In Asia, India's consumer inflation is expected to ease slightly to 6.35 percent in February from 6.52 percent in January, but that would be still above the Reserve Bank of India's target of 4 percent, or in a range of 2 percent to 6 percent. The CPI annual rate dipped from 6.77 percent in October to 5.88 percent in November and 5.72 percent in December.
The RBI's policy board will digest this and other indicators to judge whether it will need to continue tightening policy at its April meeting after raising rates for a total of 250 basis points since May 2022, including a 25 basis point hike to 6.50 percent in February.
