Kept for breeding came in at 100.5% of last year versus 100.6% expected (range of 100% to 101%). Market hogs came in at 100.2% compared with expectations for 100.4% (range 98.4% and 101.5%). The December-February pig crop was 100.3% of last year versus expectations for 101.2% (range 100.8% to 101.9%).
Definition
This full-text report, issued four times yearly, presents data on the U.S. pig crop for 16 major states and the U.S., including inventory number by class, weight group, farrowings, and farrowing intentions. Description
This report presents a quarterly accounting of hog and pig inventory and of the quarterly pig crop, i.e. pig production. It is the most complete information on pig supply that the USDA produces.
