The US small business optimism index compiled by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has been below the historical average of 98 for 11 months in a row. December's consensus is 91.3 versus 91.9 and 91.3 the past two reports.

The second estimate for November US wholesale inventories is a build of 1.0 percent on the month, the same as the advance estimate, following a revised 0.6 percent rise in October.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will participate in a panel on Central Bank Independence before the Sveriges Riksbank International Symposium on Central Bank Independence at 9 a.m. EST (1400 GMT).

Australian consumer prices in November are expected to rise to a year-over-year 7.3 percent, up from 6.9 percent in October.

Retail sales in Australia are forecast to rise 0.7 percent on the month in November after falling 0.2 percent in October, which was the first decline of 2022.
