Highlights
Net purchases of Treasury bonds and notes, at $54.2 billion led the rise in U.S. long-term holdings by foreign accounts, plus net purchases of U.S. corporate bonds, at $21.5 billion and government agency bonds, at $22.0 billion. Somewhat offsetting these were net sales by foreign accounts of U.S. equities, at $42.9 billion.
Among top foreign holders of U.S. Treasuries (long and short-term), Japanese accounts increased holdings by $17.8 billion to bring their holdings to $1.082.2 trillion in November while Chinese accounts reduced by $7.8 billion, bringing their holdings to $870.0 billion.
