Gold futures briefly rallied to $3,450 before reversing sharply to settle at $3,385—down nearly $50 on the session. Easing geopolitical tensions and shifting Fed rate-cut expectations pressured the metal. Speculative positioning remained mostly unchanged, suggesting traders are in wait-and-see mode ahead of Wednesday's FOMC meeting and press conference. Todd Colvin explains.
