Onboarding CME Group Cloud-Based Market Data APIs

After submitting an order for a Market Data API subscription, you must complete the cloud-based data onboarding workflow as follows:

  • Provide licensee details and contact information.
  • If applicable, indicate how the market data will be used.
  • Add a registered API ID for authentication.
  • Review and sign the applicable License or Interface Connections Agreements.
  1. To onboard CME Group cloud-based market data APIs
  1. Review the Welcome section of the Onboarding order form and select SAVE & CONTINUE.
  1. Complete the Licensee Details section and select SAVE & CONTINUE.

  1. Complete the Company Contacts section. Select ADD CONTACT to create additional contacts types, then select SAVE & CONTINUE.

Note: You must have at least one Primary, Technical, and Legal contact.

  1. If it's required to complete your order, select how the market data will be used in the Use of Information section. Hover on the information icon for more details.

The following market data usage options appear based on your subscription:

  • Derived Products: Any sharing of CME derived data with end clients. For example, CFDs, indexes, OTC products, quotes, spot prices, and other leveraged products.
  • Distributed: Any sharing of CME data with end clients. For example, websites or data feeds.
  • Display Devices: Monitors, phones, laptops, information boards, wall boards.
  • Non-viewable: Non-display applications, automated trading systems, and internal order processing.
  1. Select ADD API ID to enter a new or existing CME Group API ID, and select SAVE & CONTINUE.

When entering an API ID, consider the following:

  • New API ID: An API ID that is newly created or being used for the first time to order an API though the portal.
  • Existing API ID: An API ID that was previously used for a different service with the same API type (e.g., previously onboarded for the FedWatch REST API and now onboarding the SOFR Reference Rates REST API). However, an API ID that was onboarded for a different API type (e.g., WebSocket vs. REST) will be considered a "new" API ID.

Note This form does not create a CME API ID. To create an API ID for authentication, log in to the CME API Management page and refer to API ID Management for more details.

  1. Review the onboarding order information and select SUBMIT.

The onboarding information is sent to the Orders module for further review.

  1. Select Tasks to complete any remaining tasks, then select Agreements and Licenses to review the license agreements and verify new licenses.

  1. Select SUBMIT PAYMENT INFORMATION at the top of the order form.

  1. Set the Billing Address in the pop-up menu. If applicable, select the Payment Method and select CONFIRM.

  1. Select REVIEW AGREEMENT to review the licensing agreement.

  1. On the pop-up Review Agreement form, review the licensing agreement, select Click-Through or Docusign to sign the agreement, then select SUBMIT.

The agreement is submitted to CME Group for data licensing review. You can check the order status using the Orders module. For urgent requests, please contact marketdata@cmegroup.com.

Once reviewed, the order will be marked "Complete" and you'll receive an email confirming access with instructions.The CME Global Account Management (GAM) team will be notified and CME Enterprise Application & System Entitlements (EASE) will entitle the API ID for your application.
