Market Advisory: Notice of Brief Delay by EIA over the Next Several Weeks in the Public Release of Weekly Inventory Data
Please be advised that the Exchange has become aware that the Energy Information Administration (EIA) has announced that, until further notice, it will delay the weekly Wednesday release of the Weekly Petroleum Status Report and the Thursday release of the parallel natural gas report for 5 minutes until 10:35 a.m. Eastern time. According to EIA, the purpose of the added time is to accommodate certain temporary process changes intended to assure that the data remain physically inaccessible until the release process begins. The EIA has further advised that, once permanent system changes to the release process have been fully implemented and tested, EIA generally will resume the 10:30 a.m. Eastern release time. In light of this EIA announcement, Members and Member Firms may wish to consider notifying their customers of this temporary change in release schedules by the EIA. The Exchange recommends that those seeking additional clarity or assurances regarding EIA's policies and schedules regarding the release of this information should consult the EIA's website or otherwise contact the EIA.
