One North End Avenue: Notice of UPS System Shut Down on Saturday, March 29, 2008
The Exchange has scheduled a limited UPS (uninterruptible power supply) system shut down at its One North End Avenue facility, for Saturday, March 29, 2008 for a minimum of four hours, so that necessary annual maintenance can be performed. The UPS system is critical to the building's electronic operating systems because it provides clean power to our data centers and also ensures that when a power outage occurs a smooth transition is provided from the utility company's power to the building's own generators, as designed. By checking to confirm that the relevant systems are working properly and as designed, this testing is of benefit not only to the Exchange but also to all building users as well.

This power shut down will involve all systems connected to the building's UPS system. This includes only the computer, network and telecommunications systems located within the One North End Avenue trading floor, data center and telecommunications closets, not the power in the individual office spaces. This power down will most likely affect the telephone systems of building tenants on floors 9, 11, 12, and 13 as well as any other systems that may originate in the telecommunications closets on your particular floor. It will also affect any systems that are collocated in the NYMEX data centers or any proprietary equipment that you may have installed in the trading booths.

The scheduled time for the shut-down is from 10:00AM EDT to 2:00PM EDT (estimated times).

All tenants and building users are requested to take whatever action necessary to protect data and systems by the end of their processing day on Friday, March 28, 2008. You will be notified upon completion of the maintenance, at which time you will need to be prepared to recover and test your systems upon power restoration. We recommend that all member firms and tenants verify the functionality of their systems for the production open on Sunday, March 30, 2008, the commencement of trade date Monday, March 31, 2008.

An event command center in the 5th floor member servery will be manned throughout the event up until 8:00PM EDT to address any issues or questions member firms and tenants may have. The Exchange will also allow all member firms and tenants to visit the building on Sunday, March 30, 2008 to verify that all of their computer, network and telecom systems are operational. Should you have an issue on Sunday, March 30, 2008 please alert the Helpdesk at helpdesk@nymex.com.
