1111 Marcus Avenue: Notice of UPS System Shut Down on Saturday, November 15, 2008

The Exchange has scheduled a limited UPS (uninterruptible power supply) system shut down at its 1111 Marcus Avenue facility on Saturday, November 15, 2008 for necessary annual maintenance. The scheduled time for the shut-down and maintenance is from 8:00AM EST to 4:00PM EST (estimated times, but can last longer). The UPS system is critical to the building's electronic operating systems because it provides clean power to our data centers and also ensures that when a power outage occurs a smooth transition is provided from the utility company's power to the building's own generators, as designed. By checking to confirm that the relevant systems are working properly and as designed, this testing is of benefit not only to the Exchange but also to all building users as well.

This power shut down will involve all systems in the test environment (not production) connected to the building's UPS system. This includes all computer, network and telecommunications systems located within the 1111 Marcus Avenue trading floor, data center and telecommunications closets. This power down will affect all data and telephone communications that terminate into the facility and any other systems that are used to terminate such. It will also affect any systems that are collocated in the NYMEX data centers or any proprietary equipment that you may have installed in the trading booths.

All tenants and building users are requested to take whatever action necessary to protect data and systems by the end of their processing day on Friday, November 14, 2008. You will be notified upon completion of the maintenance, at which time you will need to be prepared to recover and test your systems upon power restoration. We recommend that all member firms and tenants verify the functionality of their systems prior to the production open on Sunday, November 16, 2008, the commencement of trade date Monday, November 17, 2008.
