New NYMEX Chapter 7A and Amendments to Chapter 100, ("Palladium") in Conjunction with the Launch of the Electronic Delivery System ("EDS") and New Metals Rules
Starting tomorrow, August 28, 2008, NYMEX will launch the initial paperless phase of its Electronic Delivery System ("EDS") beginning with the delivery of Palladium (PA) contracts for the September 2008 delivery period only. In conjunction with the launch, NYMEX is amending the rulebook by inserting this new Chapter 7A, which codifies procedures associated with the EDS system. In addition, Chapter 7A contains non-substantive revisions to certain rules in Chapter 7A relating to all metals contacts.

Both this new Chapter 7A and the current Chapter 7 will exist as part of the rulebook until the conversion process to electronic warrants is completed. Palladium will be the first contract to have its warrants converted and therefore will also be the first contract to be subject to the new Chapter 7A.

Chapter 100, ("Palladium") is also being amended as part of the launch of the EDS system. Rule 100.00, ("Scope"), is being amended to reflect that this contract will now be governed by new Chapter 7A. Further, this chapter is being generally redesigned for consistency with the defined terms of Chapter 7A. Lastly, sections that were deemed unnecessary or dormant are being removed from this chapter.
