Building Electrical Shutdown
Please be advised that on Saturday, October 29, 2005 we will be conducting an electrical power shutdown to the building. Starting at approximately 9:00 AM, the building will experience a loss of power for 3 to 5 minutes (although this should be transparent to the trading floors due to battery back-up) until the generators are activated. It is anticipated that you will experience a similar power loss at approximately 6:00 PM when we switch back from generator power to normal power. Due to necessary system tests, power may be turned on and off several times between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Due to the nature of the shutdown, access to the building should be restricted to essential personnel until the completion of the test. Please be advised that all personal equipment should be powered down by the end of business on Friday, October 28, 2005. In addition on Sunday, October 30, 2005 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM the trading floors will be open for you to inspect any telecom and data equipment within your booths. Also, representatives from the IS, Telecom and Facilities departments will be available should you have any questions regarding your space. These representatives will be located at the 3rd floor trading help desk. This test is necessary to confirm the sequence of operations regarding the switch over from normal power to emergency generator power if the need arises, and to perform necessary preventative maintenance on these systems. Preventative maintenance must be performed annually to help ensure that these systems will function properly when needed.
