| NYMEX Holdings, Inc., to Distribute Dividend to Shareholders |

| The board of directors of NYMEX Holdings, Inc., voted Wednesday to declare
and distribute a dividend of $3.5 million to stockholders of record as of December
31, 2004. The dividend is the fifth issued by the holding company of the New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., since the demutualization of the Exchange in November 2000. Each stockholder will receive $4,289.22 per share of NYMEX Holdings common stock during the week of January 10. The Exchange has had an extremely successful year characterized by the addition of several new initiatives and services to our flourishing energy markets, and the board is delighted that the Exchange's success allows shareholders to participate in its profitability. # # #
