Update on Brent in Dublin
In an effort to keep members apprised of the developments of the Dublin branch, this is the first of a series of regular updates the Exchange will provide on the news from across the pond. This week was especially exciting as the markets energized in Dublin when the Exchange front month Brent contract also became the spot month contract. Towards the end of the week, trading activity set consecutive volume records. On Thursday, November 18, the contract set a daily volume record when 8,901 contracts were traded. Today, volume crossed the 15,000 mark for the first time when an estimated 16,428 contracts were traded. Through the end of trading yesterday, open interest stood at 5,353 contracts.
