Parthenon Capital Expresses Interest in Purchasing Majority Stake in Exchange
NYMEX Holdings, Inc., has received an indication of interest from Parthenon Capital LLC, a private equity investment firm, to acquire a potential controlling equity interest in the company. The indication of interest states that, under the proposed transaction, Parthenon would purchase 60% of the equity shares in the company in a transaction that would include an initial cash payment and other elements which, according to Parthenon, constitutes an investment at an implied valuation of up to $2 million per seat. The proposal states the transaction would include, among other aspects, support for and preservation of open outcry trading. NYMEX Holdings is in the process of evaluating the proposal.
