For each contract traded on the NYMEX Division floor, the Exchange opens up trading on a month-by-month basis, and trading is only permitted in that month until the next month is opened.
After all months have been opened, the market is then reopened and all contract months may be traded at that time, including spreads involving two or more contract months.
Based on the above and to ensure an orderly market open for all contract months, this Notice is to confirm that asking for spread quotes as well as spread trading are both prohibited practices until the market for a particular contract has been reopened for all contract months.
