| This is to advise you that the possibility of a strike by employees of the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) still exists and has been threatened for as early as 12:01am on Monday, December 16, 2002. Negotiations between the union and MTA Management are ongoing in an attempt to resolve the dispute. If a strike occurs the New York Mercantile Exchange will conduct business as usual.
A strike by Metropolitan Transport Workers Union will effect all New York City Transit Authority bus and subway operations within the city. Attached to this notice is the most recent comprehensive listing of vehicle and ferry information, including maps and car pool staging area locations. Private vehicle entering and leaving the city must have four occupants. This HUV4 restriction will be in effect Monday through Friday, twenty-four hours a day. During the weekends HUV2 rule will be in effect requiring all vehicles entering or leaving the city to have at least two occupants. The exchange will supplement public transportation by offering the following bus/van service for NYMEX personnel only with valid exchange identification:
Updates on the pending job action and specific information regarding the operation of the Exchange will be available on the Exchange Web Site at www.nymex.com or by calling Fastfacts Info at 212-301-4871, access code 900. Additionally, the Exchange will have operational information announced over AM radio stations 1010 WINS and WCBS 880. New York City will also be updating information on its Web Site www.NYC.gov/transitstrike with respect to the strike and changes in available transportation. All parties that may be effected by this job action are encouraged to check with local television and radio stations for up to date advisories.
