| For your information, in the wake of terrorist threats, the New York City Police Department has formed new response teams. Each team consists of three members of the Emergency Service Unit SWAT Team, a K-9 unit (bomb dog), two Detectives from the NYPD Intelligence Unit and two Highway Patrol Unit Officers. Each team visits pre-determined locations on a daily basis as a show of force and to familiarize themselves with buildings in the financial downtown area. The teams are part of a rapid response program and are on call while performing routine visits. When a response team arrives at a location the members don their equipment conduct an inspection/patrol of the location. The members of SWAT are carrying automatic weapons and wear body armor. The K-9 unit and the Detectives perform a routine inspection of the surrounding area and augment the SWAT Team. Please understand that the response team members are a deterrent and are acting in a pro-active mode when they arrive. If there is an actual need for their response, Exchange Security Personnel will make proper notifications to Senior Management and Exchange personnel |
