Critical System Updates
Introducing Alphanumeric Host Order Numbers
(HON)
Effective
Sunday, October 28, 2007, CME Group is launching alphanumeric Host Order Numbers
(HON) in FIX tag 37, OrderID, in all applicable iLink messaging.
Alphanumeric values for tag 37 are currently available in the New Release environment. The
following December 2007 futures are available with an alphanumeric HON in New Release:
- NYMEX Crude Oil - CLZ7
- E-mini S&P 500
® - ESZ7
- Eurodollar - GEZ7
- Euro FX - 6EZ7
Tag 37 is defined with a String format in the
iLink Message Specifications module of
the iLink Software Development Kit (SDK), so there is no field type change. Tag 37 is used to
uniquely identify orders per contract, per trading session. Currently numeric only, tag 37 will use
alphanumeric values to support the growth in trading and messaging volume.
Changes to Instrument Creation (MO) Replay
Channels
Effective
Sunday, November 18, 2007, CME Group is introducing new Instrument Creation (MO)
Replay channels on the Market Data Platform in production. With these new channels, every product
RLC data channel (e.g., channel 7, Equity futures; channel 8, Equity options, etc.) will have a
dedicated MO Replay channel so customers can listen
only to the MO messages for which they receive market data.
The current MO Replay channels (channel 1 and 16) will be maintained in parallel for at least
eight weeks before those channels are decommissioned.
Please note, these changes only affect the RLC-format channels. There are no changes to the ITC
2.1-format channels.
The new MO Replay channels are currently available in New Release for customer testing. The new
MO replay channels will be available in Certification on Wednesday, November 21. The
channel definitions for New
Release are now available at
www.cme.com/certsdk.
CBOT and Hosted Exchange Products and Functionality
Launch
Effective
January 2008, the CBOT and Hosted Exchange functionality and products are
scheduled to launch on the CME Globex electronic trading platform. Commodities, Dow and Hosted
Exchange futures and options are scheduled to launch January 13, 2008. Interest Rate futures and
options are scheduled to launch January 27. Jade and Metal products are not included in this

All CBOT-related functionality and CBOT and Hosted Exchange products, including futures,
options, spreads and strategies, are currently available for testing in New Release. Customers can
now certify for Cabinet pricing in New Release, via the AutoCert+ automated certification tool.
The new functionality to support this launch includes Fractional and Cabinet pricing; matching
algorithms; new spreads; and enhancements to the Instrument Creation (MO) and Security Definition
(MU) market data messages. Complete information on the customer system impacts for this launch is

not connect during the performance testing windows. Customers interested in
performance testing in Certification or New Release are strongly advised to adopt one of the new,
higher-bandwidth connectivity options, including CME CERTLink and Client CERTLink.
More information on the testing environments and the performance testing windows is available in
Certification Environments

CME Group Metals
As a result of customer demand, the CME Group metals complex will continue to trade on eCBOT
through June 2008. Details of a longer term solution will be provided at a later date.
We will continue to fully support the trading, clearing, marketing and customer support for the
100 oz. gold, mini-sized gold, 5,000 oz. silver and mini-sized silver futures and options on
futures contracts.
CME Group is the only exchange to offer a straight-thru clearing platform through its electronic
vault receipt program as well as to provide for directed fungibility of its mini-sized gold and
silver futures contracts with its full-size counterparts.
CME Globex Trader Decommission Postponed!
CME Group is postponing the CME Globex Trader decommission until May 30, 2008.
In 2006, CME announced the decision to decommission CME Globex Trader by the end of 2007 because
of the system's aging functionality and infrastructure and declining user base. In response to
customer feedback on the integration of CME and CBOT trading floors, CME Group will postpone the
CME Globex Trader decommission. This extension will allow customers to use CME Globex Trader on the
CME trading floors at 20 S. Wacker until their closure.
Please note: although CME Globex Trader will be available until the floor migration is complete,
CBOT and Hosted Exchange products will not be available for trading on CME Globex Trader, and CME
Globex Trader terminals will not be available on the new CME Group floors at 141 W. Jackson.
Traders may replace CME Globex Trader with a
third-party application. CME Group
front-end applications include
EOS Trader, an options-centric
trading application with limited futures trading functionality, and
Galax-C, a handheld system used to
access CME Globex markets from the open outcry trading floors.
Finally, with the postponement there will be no change to the monthly fees, and VPN access will
continue to be available until May 30, 2008.
