Dear CME® Globex® Customers,
Effective September 26, 2005, CME will launch the CME E-miniTM NASDAQ Biotechnology Index® futures, the first futures contracts designed specifically to hedge investment risk in the increasingly popular biotechnology
sector, exclusively on the CME Globex electronic trading platform. This new product will also give investors the opportunity
to gain broad exposure in this sector with a single transaction.
The CME E-mini NASDAQ Biotechnology Index futures are based on the NASDAQ Biotechnology Index, one of the most frequently quoted benchmarks for measuring the performance of
biotechnology companies. The Index tracks approximately 150 companies that have been classified by the FTSETM Global Classification System as either biotechnology or pharmaceutical, and have met other eligibility criteria set by NASDAQ
for inclusion in the Index.
The CME E-mini NASDAQ Biotechnology Index futures will be available in the CME certification environment starting Sunday, September 11, 2005.
