Dear CME® Globex® Customers,
CME is offering an option for customers to reduce bandwidth utilization on their CME Market Data API (MD API) feeds. Implementation
of TIBCO RVRD compression will improve delivery of market data in peak market situations until CME DIRECTLink - Ethernet becomes
available.
CME is currently enabling TIBCO RVRD compression on all CME MD API Local paths. Beginning May 16, customers may request to use TIBCO RVRD compression. Customers connecting to a CME "compression-enabled" path will potentially
see a warning message in their RVRD logs (see message text below*) upon connection to CME (i.e. at the beginning of the week
or after a mid-week disconnect) if they do not have compression enabled in their RVRD configuration. This informational message
does not impact normal operation of the RVRDs. By default, customers will not receive compression unless customers make additional
changes in their RVRD configuration.
Customers who choose to implement compression will see a 40-60 percent reduction in bandwidth utilization which will eliminate
potential latencies during peak market activity. (Compression minimally extends the delivery time of market data, which more
than offsets latencies experienced in peaks.) CME recommends that compression be used only until CME DIRECTLink - Ethernet
is available.
Beginning May 16, 2005, customers wishing to utilize compression should contact their CME Globex Account Manager at 312.634.8700.
Thank you,
CME 800.331.3332
