Dear GLOBEX® Customers,
Chicago Mercantile Exchange would like to clarify the use and interpretation of the Order Status Report (FIX 4.2 message type
= 8) returned to customers in response to an Order Status Request in both CME iLinkSM 1.0 and iLink 2.0.
In an Order Status Report, the "OrdStatus" (FIX tag 39), identifying the state of the order queried, should always be interpreted
in combination with the "ExecType" (FIX tag 150), identifying the purpose of the execution report message.
An Order Status Request can fail when a technical problem prevents the database query from succeeding or if the order queried
cannot be found in the database. When an Order Status Request is sent and the status of the order cannot be retrieved, an
Order Status Report is sent with "ExecType" (FIX tag 150) set to 8 and "OrdStatus" (FIX tag 39) set to 8.
"ExecType" (FIX tag 150) set to 8 (Rejected) should be interpreted as "your Order Status Request could not be completed" and
"OrdStatus" (FIX tag 39) set to 8 (Rejected) should be interpreted as "The status of the order queried cannot be determined"
(Order Status = Unknown). Whenever "ExecType" (FIX tag 150) is set to 8 in an Order Status Report, no status of the order should be inferred. Customers
that receive a FIX tag 150 = 8 are asked to contact the GCC to confirm order status.
CME is investigating other alternatives for handling this condition.
Please contact the GLOBEX Control Center at (312) 456-2391 with any questions.
Thank you,
Chicago Mercantile Exchange
