Subject GLOBEX Reminder
Notice Date 2004-01-06
Notice Number 01-06
Effective Date

Dear GLOBEX Customers,

CME would like to remind its GLOBEX customers of the following events which are scheduled for the weekend of January 30, 2004:

  1. Protection Points for Market and Stop orders will be expanded
  2. Tag 44 will be introduced in iLink 1.0 for Market and Stop orders
  3. Elimination of FIX API 2.3
  4. CME will no longer issue new iLink 1.0 IDs

Expanded Protection Points
Effective February 2 (trade date February 1), CME will expand its Protection Point limits for both Market and Stop orders introduced in November. Protection Points for all products, currently set to 0, will be expanded to (0.75*Price Band Value) for all products that have a Price Band Value. For agricultural products which have no listed PBV, Protection Points were set using ((2*No Bust Range)*0.75). For information regarding Price Band Values for all GLOBEX traded products, please refer to www.cme.com/files/pricebanding.pdf.

CME requests all GLOBEX customers test the new order types in its certification environment prior to January 30. For more information regarding the Market and Stop orders please refer to www.cme.com/globexenhancements.

Tag 44 in iLink 1.0
In conjunction with the expansion of Protection Points on February 2, CME will introduce Tag 44 (Price) in all execution messages except for fill messages in all Market and Stop orders in iLink 1.0. The value in Tag 44 will reflect the Protection Price Limit at which unfilled or the remainder of partially filled orders will rest on the order book. Tag 44 has already been implemented in iLink 2.0 for both order types. Tag 44 is currently implemented in CME's certification environment for 1.0. All iLink 1.0 firms are requested to test their application against the certification environment to ensure compatibility. For a more detailed description of the changes and their potential impact, please refer to www.cme.com/globexenhancements.

Elimination FIX API 2.3
CME will decommission the FIX API 2.3 legacy interface at the close of business on Friday, January 30, disabling all FIX 2.3 IDs at the close of business. Because the TOPS to GLOBEX order routing path utilizes the FIX API 2.3 infrastructure, orders from ORAPI and 3270 TOPS terminals will no longer be routed to GLOBEX subsequently. ORAPI and 3270 TOPS terminals will retain all other order routing destinations such as CUBS, CME TOPS Printers, as well as several other North American exchanges.

iLink 1.0 ID Moratorium
As customers continue to migrate to CME iLink 2.0, CME will stop generating session IDs for the iLink 1.0 interface effective January 31, 2004. Only iLink 2.0 session IDs will be generated after January 30, 2004. Please make appropriate accommodations to ensure your ISV or proprietary application supports iLink 2.0 as soon as possible.
