NEW YORK, N.Y., October 13, 2004 - Records were set today in e-miNYSM energy futures and e-miNY crude oil futures trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc. e-miNY volume of 10,953 contracts
surpassed the previous record of 9,987 contracts on October 12, while e-miNY crude oil futures volume of 10,144 contracts
exceeded the previous record of 9,196 contracts set on that same day.
Exchange President James E. Newsome said, "It is evident that the e-miNY energy futures contracts are playing an increasingly
important role in the portfolios of market participants, as evidenced by their ninth volume record since August 11."
e-miNY futures are traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange CME® Globex® system and cleared through the New York Mercantile Exchange clearinghouse. They are 50% of the size of the standard-sized
energy futures contracts and are traded from 3:15 p.m., New York time, Mondays through Thursdays, and 7 p.m., New York time,
on Sundays until 2:30 p.m. the following day, with breaks between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., and 5:30
p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
