| PROBLEM: At 9:01 AM CT, approximately half of GL Trade customers experienced a freeze of market data, the result of a hardware failure of one of the market data delivery servers. (MDAPI subscribers were unaffected.) Upon switching to the back-up server, a corruption of data files impeded recovery to some users, requiring staff to manually recycle several processes on the server.<P> IMMEDIATE RESPONSE: Emergency messages were sent. Senior staff was notified, and operational staff began the process of restoring service to all users. Many processes were recovered by 9:15 AM CT; the remainder were fully operational by 9:35 AM CT. GCC staff assisted registered contacts with order status and cancellation requests. <P> RESOLUTION: Developmental specialists will investigate this issue to determine the exact nature of its cause and make a recommendation to senior staff on a permanent solution.<P> If you have any questions, please call the GCC at 312-456-2391 option 2. |
