| CAUSE: On Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at approximately 8:30 AM CT, a Network Uplink Module problem resulted in various Host Input Processes failing to backup. The Host Input Processes momentarily impacted order entry and cancellation in several contracts, most notably the E-mini S&P. At 8:35 PM CT, all processes reconnected. RESPONSE: Emergency e-mails were sent. Senior staff was notified and the operational staff began the process of restoring service to all users. By 8:35:00 PM CT, all processes were confirmed connected and service fully restored. Updates to all notification points were made to inform users of all developments. Assistance was given to some users that experienced issues with lost acknowledgements due to excessive retransmission requests during the recovery process. GCC staff assisted registered contacts with order status and cancellation requests. RESOLUTION: Developmental specialists will investigate this failure to determine the exact nature of its cause and will then make a recommendation to senior staff on a permanent solution. If you have any questions, please call the GCC at 312-456-2391 option 2. |
