| CAUSE: At approximately 11:30 AM CT the machine that supports the database for the FIX API had a hardware failure. This caused the database to fail over to its back up which then necessitated the need for staff to recycle all fix connections. No FIX EXPRESS connections experienced any type of outage during this event. By 12:30 PM CT 95% of our users were reconnected. Some users experienced log file issues, which extended their recovery time. RESPONSE: An emergency voice mail was placed on the GCCs main line with updates when appropriate. Senior staff was notified and operation staff began the process of restoring service to all users. During this process all orders in a queued state were rejected before restarting the firms process. RESOLUTION: Hardware, database, and development specialists will investigate this failure to determine the exact nature of its cause, and will then make a recommendation to senior staff on a permanent solution.
