Subject System Update # 16 Temporary Loss Of FIX Connectivity To Some Users

CAUSE: On Sunday, February 18, 2001 at approximately 5:15 PM CST a network file server failed. This failure caused all users connected to the fxprap1 & fxprap2 servers to become disconnected.

RESPONSE: The GCC informed all users who called about the issue, and that they would call them back when the issue was resolved. Operation staff immediately escalated the issue to senior support staff. Our support staff found the issue, and moved the network connection to its backup. At 7:00 PM CST the FIX support team then recycled the fxprap1 & fxprap2 servers, which allowed the affected users to regain connection. The GCC then called each affected user to verify that they were in fact connected with no issues.

RESOLUTION: Hardware and Network specialists will investigate this failure to determine the exact nature of its cause, and will then make a recommendation to senior staff on a permanent solution.
