| CAUSE: On Friday, February 9, 2001 at 14:02 CST a Hardware failure on the GLOBEX matching engine occurred. Due to the failure, users were not able to enter, modify, or cancel orders. RESPONSE: An emergency voice mail was placed on the main GLOBEX2 phone line & a SPI mail (news) was sent explaining the current outage, with updates when applicable. Senior staff was notified. All markets were interrupted so that no matches would occur when the logical connection to the Host was reestablished. The operational staff then began bringing the hardware back on-line. At 14:20 CST the hardware and system was functional. At 14:35 the ES, NQ, and FE markets were placed into a Pre-Opening state for a 14:45 CST re-opening.
