Globex Advisory Notice

 |
From John M. Restivo, Associate Director GLOBEX2 Control Center
Subject System Update # 06 Loss of MDAPI
Effective Date 01/29/01
Notice Number SU#0106

CAUSE: On January 22, 2001, at about 8:00 am, the GCC received calls that Market data was becoming sluggish. By 8:20 am, the GCC received several messages from just about ALL production MD-API users that they were receiving NO market data at all. This was caused when the addition of hardware to the CME infrastructure was configured incorrectly.

RESPONSE: Operation and development staff immediately began working on the issue. It was found that internal processes were competing for the same port (8104).  The processes that were causing the issue where shut down. This resulted in all MDAPI users to start receiving data as of 16:00 CST.

RESOLUTION: Staff will reconfigure the RVRD script on gfcprap3 and gfcprap4 so they will be on different outbound and inbound ports for external CME use. This will eliminate any future process contention.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you have any questions, please call the GCC at 312-456-2391 option 2.
