| CAUSE: Scripts were inadvertently executed when a special cut / paste / auto-execute feature of the Unix system was activated during the move of some files. This caused the primary FIX server to fail, disconnecting all of its users. RESPONSE: Firms were instructed to connect to the secondary FIX server while the primary server was recycled. After the server was recycled, an e-mail notice was sent to FIX users asking firms which have firm numbers ending in an even number to reconnect to the primary FIX server. RESOLUTION: An extension will be added to the end of all script names that will prevent them from triggering the cut / paste /auto-execute feature. This will require an additional step to execute scripts, but will prevent a recurrence of this mornings event. The extension change to the scripts will occur this Friday after the close. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you have any questions, please call the GCC at 312-456-2391 option 2. |
