| PC-SPAN(r) version 4.02c build 381 is now available. This maintenance release contains two important enhancements in how SPAN(r) files are read:
First, it supports specifying futures expirations down to the individual day of the month in the unpacked and packed-format SPAN files. Previously, this feature was supported only in the XML-based SPAN file format. The new build is needed for NYMEX's Weekly and Daily PJM Electricity Futures Contracts, set to begin trading in late June.
Second, for scanning-based intercommodity spreads, it supports specifying in the unpacked, packed and expanded-unpacked-format SPAN files, whether each leg is required for the spread to be formed, leg by leg. Previously, this feature was supported only in the XML-based SPAN file format. This capability will be needed for combined CME-CBOT SPAN files to be made available as part of the Common Clearing Link.
Updated SPAN file layouts are available at wwww.cme-ch.com/span:
** On the type "B" (risk array calculation parameters) record for the standard unpacked- and packed-format file, the futures contract day or week code is now provided in bytes 79-80.
** On the type "8" (risk array) record, a new value of "G" in the Cycle Indicator field in byte 76 implies that the value in byte 79-80 is the futures expiration day number.
** On the type "6" record, new fields have been added in formerly unused bytes indicating whether particular legs are required for scanning-based intercommodity spreads. Note that by default all legs are required.
