Highlights
Stock indexes bounced up on Friday paced by bargain hunting in technology shares plus positive comments from President Trump on Iran. The Dow Jones industrial average gained 0.8 percent while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq both rose 0.6 percent. Bond yields, oil prices and the dollar all firmed but prices were choppy.
The market reacted favorably to Trump saying he would not order new military strikes on Iran ahead of the mid-term elections in November. Magnificent Seven shares were back to their familiar role leading the market higher with Amazon and Microsoft leading the recovery. Spacex had a good day on news that it would enter the wireless telephone business in the US.
