Highlights
The US ISM manufacturing report and the JOLTS job openings report are today's highlights, both due at 10 am ET. The Econoday consensus looks for the ISM manufacturing index at 55.2 for August versus 55.6 in July, suggesting business activity continues to expand at the same moderate pace. JOLTS job openings are seen similarly steady at a 7.358 million rate in July versus 7.359 million in June.
In markets, the rise in bond yields is continuing alongside oil futures prices ticking higher on US-Iran war worries. Japan's 10-year JGB yield touched 3 percent, its highest since 1996, and US Treasury 10-year yields moved well above 4.75 percent.
