US consumer confidence and new home sales at 10 am ET are Tuesday's featured economic reports. Consumer confidence is expected to ease to 90.1 in August from an already gloomy 90.8 in July, largely due to rising energy prices. New home sales are also seen in the doldrums at a 620K annual rate in July, down from 628K in June.
Bond yields are lower as the market reckons with the impact of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's bond buyback plans. Oil prices are down too.
