Highlights
Equities recovered some ground Friday in quiet trading after losses on Thursday despite another rise in bond yields. The Dow industrials rose 1.0 percent while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq both gained 0.4 percent. Bond yields and the dollar rose while oil prices dipped.
Bargain-hunting and short-covering into the weekend lifted stocks. The AI momentum trade was a non-factor Friday, unusually. Financials had a good day, as did health care to help the Dow outperform.
