Highlights
Rising oil prices undercut major stock indexes Monday as the market refocused on the expiration of the US-Iran tentative ceasefire deal with no progress toward peace. The Dow Jones industrial average and the S&P 500 both eased 0.5 percent, and the Nasdaq was off 0.3 percent. Bond yields rose with oil prices and the dollar declined.
Stocks fell nearly across the board as risk appetite suffered from war and inflation fears. Only energy stocks outperformed. Worst sectors included financials, consumer discretionary, consumer staples, real estate, and materials. Gains in chipmakers limited the losses at the index level after Anthropic said its revenues soared.
