US jobless claims for the latest week and the monthly productivity and costs report are due at 8:30 am ET Thursday. Claims are expected at 201K for the latest week, up from 197K in the previous week. The consensus looks for productivity up at a disappointing 0.7 percent rate for Q2 and unit labor costs up 2.2 percent.
These are warmups for the big event on Friday, the monthly employment report with expectations for payrolls up 88K on the month in July and no change in the jobless rate at 4.2 percent.
