For US events today, employment costs is in focus at 8:30 am ET. Expectations call for an increase of 0.8 percent on the quarter in Q2. At 10 am ET, we get the final July reading on consumer sentiment from the University of Michigan. The preliminary consumer sentiment index for July came in at 54.4. The final reading will capture the consumer response to the latest rise in gasoline prices after the Mideast war heated up again in July. The Econoday consensus looks for 54.2 in the final consumer sentiment index but the risk is a weaker number.
