Highlights
Major stock indexes edged up Friday as momentum stocks steadied and a few cyclical sectors advanced.
The Dow Jones industrial average firmed 0.3 percent while the S&P 500 gained 0.4 percent and the Nasdaq was up 0.3 percent. Bond yields and the dollar rose while oil prices fell.
Markets were largely on hold waiting next week’s major economic indicators including CPI and PPI, plus appearances by Fed Chair Kevin Warsh on Tuesday and Wednesday. The US-Iran war remained in focus with military strikes picking up at the same time that talks apparently continue.
