Advance estimates for Singapore's gross domestic product in the three months to June show the economy grew 1.1 percent on the quarter, up slightly from growth of 1.3 percent in the three months to December. GDP rose 5.7 percent on the year in the three months to June, slowing from the 6.3 percent increase recorded in the three months to March. Monthly PMI survey data showed solid growth in the Singapore economy over the quarter.
Stronger headline quarter-over-quarter GDP growth in the three months to March was driven by the manufacturing sector. Output there rose 5.3 percent on the quarter, rebounding strongly from a drop of 2.2 percent previously. Service sector output, in contrast, recorded weaker growth, up 0.3 percent on the quarter after advancing 2.0 percent previously, while construction activity fell 2.1 percent on the quarter after a previous increase of 7.4 percent.
