Highlights
Renewed strength in semiconductor stocks, the momentum AI trade, helped lift stocks again Tuesday with other big technology shares mostly up as well. The Dow Jones industrial average firmed 0.3 percent while the S&P 500 was up 0.8 percent and the Nasdaq rallied 1.5 percent. Bond yields rose while oil prices declined and the dollar was mostly lower.
Nvidia, Intel, and AMD were among the day's best performers. The so-called broadening trade, to incorporate more sectors in the tech-led rally, faltered Tuesday as more sectors sagged than advanced. Lagging were big banks, pharma, telecom, energy, chemicals, travel & tourism, and food & beverage.
