US: Atlanta Fed Business Inflation Expectations
| Actual | Previous | |
| Year over Year | 2.3% | 2.4% |
Highlights
One-year inflation expectations among Atlanta Fed district firms edge down to 2.3 percent in October from 2.4 percent in September and flat from 2.3 percent in October a year ago.
Year-ahead inflation expectations are down a lot from a peak of 3.8 percent in April 2022 but remain somewhat elevated relative to their pre-pandemic average of 2.0 percent (from January 2017 through December 2019). Given what energy costs have been doing lately, this is a somewhat remarkable outcome and reassuring for investors and the Federal Reserve as it suggests inflation expectations are not becoming un-anchored.
