Highlights
Case Shiller housing price index comes in hotter than expected with the 20-city measure up 2.1 percent on the year in June, far above the 1.7 percent expected and the unrevised 1.6 percent figure in May.
On the month, the seasonally adjusted increase is 0.2 percent, slightly above the 0.1 percent expected. The not seasonally adjusted index is up 0.4 percent.
The national index shows a 1.5 percent annual gain in June versus a 1.2 rise in the previous month.
Market Consensus Before Announcement
The call is for increases of 0.1 percent on month and 1.7 percent on year, pretty much what it’s been doing lately, as housing price inflation remains muted.
