Highlights
The Chicago Fed National Activity Index eases to minus 0.08 in July from 0.06 (-0.02 previously) in June, suggesting slower growth. The index's three-month moving average, CFNAI-MA3, decreases to –0.04 in July from +0.01 in June.
The CFNAI Diffusion Index, a separate three-month moving average, decreases to 0.05 in July from 0.09 in June.
Forty of the 85 individual indicators make positive contributions to the CFNAI in July, while 45 make negative contributions.
Thirty-seven indicators improve from June to July, while 48 indicators deteriorate. Of the indicators that are up, seven make negative contributions.
