The trade surplus grew in May to 4.793 billion euros from 4.074 billion the month before.

Exports rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.2 percent in May, while imports increased 1.5 percent. Unadjusted data show a 4.1 percent increase in exports compared to May of last year, while imports were 7.3 percent higher than June of last year.

Energy exports were 4.6 percent higher in May than in June and 63.3 percent higher than a year-ago, with imports up 9.1 percent month-on-month and from April and 64.5 percent higher year-on-year.
