Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen to speak at Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City Economic Symposium on Financial Stability in Jackson Hole.

Speaking to the Jackson Hole conference, Janet Yellen did not address monetary policy or current economic conditions. The Fed chair confined her remarks to financial regulations which she said have boosted stability without limiting growth. She did concede, amid pressures from the administration to deregulate the financial industry, that there may be benefits to simplifying the Volcker Rule which limits proprietary trading by banks. Otherwise she said regulation has made the financial system more resilient to shocks and she warned that regulators have to be alert to new booms and busts.
