Gold Contract Launch - Short-Term Options

Effective trade date Monday, July 18, 2011, the Exchange will list L01-L31: NYMEX Short-Term Gold Options contracts for trading on CME Globex and the New York trading floor, and for submission for clearing through CME ClearPort.

On the evening preceding each trade date, a new contract with a five-business-day expiration will list with a ticker symbol coinciding with the expiration date. As each contract expires, a new one expiring five business days thereafter will be listed in its place. A listing will be skipped if its expiration date coincides with that of an associated monthly options contract.

The contract is listed with COMEX, and subject to the rules and regulations of COMEX and Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc.

CME Clearing offers an enhanced Performance Bond Collateral schedule that allows firms to post physical gold to CME Clearing to cover non-segregated (NSEG) Performance Bond requirements. For more information, please visit the links below:

Platinum Records – Options Open Interest, Volume Climb to New Heights

Open interest in Platinum Options has witnessed another two weeks of record-breaking growth into July, with six more new records culminating in a high of 24,666 contracts on July 6, 2011, a 98 percent increase over the record of 12,449 contracts set only two months prior on May 3, 2011. A new record volume of 3,000 contracts traded, meanwhile, was reached on June 20, 2011.

Palladium Records – Options Open Interest Surges

Palladium Options saw open interest set four new records coming into July, with a high of 8,604 contracts attained as of July 1, 2011, replacing the record of 7,585 contracts set on Feb. 15, 2011.
