RBOB Gasoline futures and options set a new daily volume record of 285,371 contracts traded on April 18, 2012, besting the previous high of 269,806 contracts traded on January 27, 2012.

CME Group Statement on White House Proposal to Increase Oversight of Energy Markets

CME has released a statement in the wake of President Barack Obama's recent urging of Congress to bolster federal supervision of oil markets, which would include bigger penalties for market manipulation and greater power for regulators to increase the amount of money traders must put up to back their energy bets.

WTI Benchmark News & Notes: US Oil Gains As Brent Falls on Pipeline Reversal

The Seaway pipeline reversal, designed to help ease the supply glut in Cushing, Okla., that has been depressing U.S. prices, will begin delivering crude to the Gulf Coast earlier than expected. The reversal had been expected to start by June 1, but on Friday, Enterprise Products Partners LP, which controls the Seaway project, said in a regulatory filing that the pipe would reverse the flow on or around May 17.
