Effective October 20, 2008, Random Length Lumber futures and options will now trade virtually 24 hours a day on CME Globex – Sunday 5:00 p.m. CT through Friday 4:00 p.m. CT with daily halts from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. CT.
Random Length Lumber futures provide a way to:
- Engage in price discovery for lumber used for construction and rehabbing
- Effectively manage the price risk that mills, wholesalers, builders, retailers and others have related to the purchase or sale of lumber
- Trade to hedge or speculate based on expectations of directional price, spread movement or volatility in lumber

- Contracts trade during regular trading hours on the CME Group trading floor and virtually 24 hours a day on CME Globex - Sunday 5:00 p.m. Chicago time through Friday 4:00 p.m. Chicago time with daily halts from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
