See free live quotes

International Skimmed Milk Powder futures and options (ISMP) are the first international dairy risk management tools available to the industry. The futures contact is based on a physically delivered product based on the international standard for dry milk, and represents a market size estimated at $6.7 billion U.S. dollars.

Produced and consumed worldwide, Skimmed Milk Powder is known for its storage longevity and its use in a range of products: baking, confectionery, pharmaceuticals, infant formula, health drinks and ready-to-eat products. Demand for this product, combined with price vulnerability due to swings in production based largely on weather and herd size variations, make this a valuable hedging tool.

Users of the contract can take advantage of six worldwide delivery points: Los Angeles, Newark and Seattle in the U.S.; Auckland, New Zealand; Melbourne, Australia; and Rotterdam, Netherlands.

These contracts are electronically traded on CME Globex and centrally cleared by CME Clearing. They complete the set of hedging tools needed by producers and wholesalers for profit margin management.
